Cool Petition to nerf the vendors

Self explanatory.
Take them out.
They're causing hell on the GW market.
You put them in to stabalize the economy, all they're doing now is inflating everything.

Example: Black dye. I know it's an overused example, but it's a good one. In the betas you could only find a dye trader in Lion's Arch. Upon release they were available in every major city (though, I cannot find the rune trader in the Henge of Denravi ). Black dye sold for ~5k.
Now, the NPC sells for 20k, and will buy it for no more than -- get this -- 2-3k. People sell their black dye in the trade channel, as opposed to when they could sell it to the vendor for ~4k.
Now, WTF!
And before you hide behind how players do that to each other, buying things low, selling things high... we take opportunities, we don't try to force the prices.

I had 3 silver dye several days ago, I went to sell them to the NPC. He was selling them for 800, but wouldn't give me more than 300 for them. I silently told him to @#$% off and went to put them back in my vault so I could sell them later. But on my way I found someone advertising to buy them. So I sold them to her for 700 each.

See? Your NPCs are doing nothing aside from taking up space the way they are now. Christ, have you looked at the price of superior absorbtions? 80k. 80k! WTF?

And before anyone starts claiming I'm just complaining, that I should just ignore the NPCs, just bite your tongue. You know as well as I do that they're doing more harm than good. Either they should keep up with current prices, or go to hell. Influencing the market is for players and players alone, not some snotheaded vendor AI.

I do not have the time or the patience to sit there and spam "WTS" for hours so...

Sure the prices are steep but I always sell to them, This recient market spike netted me 6k profit on runes yesterday I would have only made 200g on the day before.

Supply and demand. Besides, this makes the game exciting, buying low and selling high (Black Dyes in particular). And 80,000 for a Superior Absorbtion is lower than the 100,000 (along with Superior Vigor, and that's way down) it was a few weeks ago. I'm not sure if you've ever played games like Diablo II, but if you take out vendors that sell good items, the game's currency becomes utterly uses.

<Flashback>
My Druid had the maximum gold he could carry, about 2.15 billion! I tried trading someone for some common items easily gotten in Hell, and I failed miserably.
</Flashback>

THIS IS NOT A GOOD IDEA!

Bad idea. Vendors good. Just need to be tweaked, else the farmers will be the only source of things needed.

The Economy is in a depression. Hehe, glad I bough all thoese minor runes and kept them. They've quadrupled in value.

The huge nerf has done what is was intended to do. Give value to the GP again. I don't see any vampiric bow strings selling for 200K anymore!

I used to sell minor runes for 300 before the rune trader. Then they brought them in and minors were selling for 25.
Now look at the price of minors.

You want a stupid computer to have monopoly over rune prices instead of farmers who have enough money as it is and are just selling to free inventory?

By the way, I'm not just focused on runes, they're merely a good way to prove what I'm saying.

Oh please. If I need something and can't happen to find it or buy it at a vendor, Joe Farmer is going to try and sell it to me for the absolute maximum he can.

I farm. Have you seen the prices I sell things for? Nowhere near what the guy with no gold is trying to sell the exact same thing for on the other side of the district.
Plenty of farmers don't charge absurd amounts, it's always the people who get lucky drops who try to sell things for huge amounts because they don't have gold.

its sad cause i farm ... but get this ... I dont want my stuff and cant be bothered to sell it in the cities ... so the vendors is my outlet for income ... I just cant see myself giving him my black dye at 2K? wtf? 2K ... thats unreasonable ... I would sell it to any human for 5K ... I go into the district and all i see is WTS Black dye 15K thats 2K less than the vendor?????? bbq?

whats going on here.

I farm for fun, I farm for unlocks, I dont care about any of the shet I get. I just like wiping out mobs. Seeing the yellow light up my screen is very rewarding ... although the enemies are weak.

Ristaron you are silly
do not forget

THE ONLY REASON SOME ITEMS ARE EXPENSIVE IS BECAUSE SOMEONE WAS WILLING TO PAY VENDOR THAT MUCH FOR IT and that drives the price up

I think the trading system in GW is great, not entirely perfect, but much better than in any other game I have seen

Linen costs 20g and 5 plant fibers O_o

Not signed. They need to be tweaked, not removed. I'm not dealing with the rampant gouging that farmers pull left and right.
